From da wiki:
The new Tercel 4WD was built from existing pieces in the Toyota inventory. The engine, transaxle and front-wheel-drive system were from the existing Tercel. The coil-sprung, live rear axle was taken from the rear-wheel drive Corolla. [13] The only [ citation needed ] part specifically designed for the new Tercel 4WD was the transfer case , built into the transmission .

Four Double U Dee

Some people say 4WD when they mean AWD.

Some people say 4 double U dee when then should have learned how to read a technical script before agreeing to do a technical training video.
as far as I can tell the only difference between the 2 terms is that one of them tells you how many wheels are driven, while the other tells you that no matter how many wheels it has, all are driven.

The way I see it, 4 double U dee implies some kind of off-road/trail capabilities, and ay double U dee implies otherwise.
